Friday afternoon (02.13), musician and comic book author Claudio Sanchez unleashes his newest art toy, Kill Audio, as well as his latest comic book, The Amory Wars, which translates musical myths into an epic science fiction/horror story. Literature and art collide on Saturday (02.14) at Bookends: the Book as Art. This exhibition showcasing all forms of art books, from traditional to contemporary, is hosted by the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center and curated by Helen Frederick. It’ll be on display through April 18th, and a reception and gallery talk will be held Saturday from 6-8 PM. The Pyramid Art Center is located at 8230 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. Help your community this Valentines Day through Art with a Heart. Join Our Daily Bread, Maryland’s hot meal program, in preparing box lunches for the hungry. And on Sunday (02.15), Baltimore’s Metro Gallery hosts Spread the Love, Share the Warmth, a special music and poetry event to benefit Heart’s Place Shelter, a shelter that welcomes men, women and children, so that families can stay together. The bill includes music from Noble Lake, Mr. Moccasin, and Katie Field, as well as a round-robin poetry reading that includes Marion Amoss and Chris Toll. The Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society continues its eighteenth season of jazz concerts Sunday evening (02.15) at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Trumpeter Randy Brecker will join the Dave Liebman Quintet for an evening of modern jazz at the BMA. Stop by early for a gallery tour beginning at 3:45 PM, with concert to follow. Ever wanted to see a presidential set of dentures? If so, it’s your lucky day. The National Museum of Dentistry celebrates George Washington’s Birthday Sunday afternoon (02.15), where visitors can learn all about the first president’s choppers. Tour the museum, find out Washington’s favorite foods, and even indulge in sweet birthday treats this Sunday from 1-4 PM, at the museum, located at the corner of Lombard and Greene Streets. This weekend Minas Gallery hosts The Baby Boomer Balancing Act: Poetry, Prose, and Monologues. Guests include Linda Joy Burke, who has published poetry, fiction, op-ed columns, profiles; Jaki-Terry, a 10-year veteran of Coppin Players and a 14-year veteran of Arena Players and nationally published poet; and L. And looking ahead to next week, Julio Fine Arts Gallery showcases Fantastical Imaginings, a traveling exhibition curated by J. Susan Isaacs and featuring the work of artists inspired by fantasy and driven to create whimsical worlds through their work. Artists include Marilyn Holsing, A.D. Loveday, Serena Perrone, and Hiro Sakaguchi. The exhibition opens with a gallery talk and reception at Loyola College’s Julio Fine Arts Gallery on Thursday, (02.19) at 7pm.
