When we first met artist Lyle Kissack, he was perched on a scaffold, painting a three-storey tall mural on the side of a row-house. Well, it turns out the talented Mr. Kissack is a man of many art-forms… some smaller-scale then others. Kissack’s latest project is a series of hand-altered photographs. The unique images are shot while the camera gets swung in an arc, and the blurred photos are enhanced and transformed by layers of ink drawings and emulsion scrapings. Kissack’s exhibit, Work Rhymes, opens with a reception Saturday evening (09.20.08) at Minas Gallery on 36th street. More information is online at www.minasgalleryandboutique.com.
For two years now, the full-color independent publication Locus Magazine has been showcasing the arts in Baltimore and beyond, and this Saturday evening they celebrate the release of their latest issue, which contains the works of eight emerging artists, along with interviews and studio visits. Saturday night (09.20.08) you can meet the featured artists and pick up your limited-edition copy of Locus at a party at Maryland Art Place in downtown Baltimore’s Power Plant Live complex. Check out www.locusartmagazine.org for more details.
