This week the Sundays at Central Concert Series presents Pianist Lura Johnson performing works by Rachmaninoff, Ravel and more. The free concert begins at 4pm on March 2nd at Central Presbyterian Church at 7308 York Road in Towson.

The Baltimore indie duo Wye Oak (formerly known as Monarch) plays Saturday night (03.01.08) at the Creative Alliance with fellow locals Lo Moda. The show starts at 8pm and the Creative Alliance is located at 3134 Eastern Avenue in Patterson Park. The show is also going to include slide projections of photographs taken by artist Natasha Tylea. Starting this weekend, Baltimore’s Load of Fun art space hosts Refracted Journey, an exhibit of new works by artist Julia Pearson. Pearson’s large, colorful photographs explore hidden and abandoned spaces in Baltimore and beyond. The opening reception takes place Saturday evening (03.01.08) from 6-9 at Load of Fun, on the corner of North and Howard. For more information, you can go to www.loadoffun.net.

Also this weekend, Baltimore literary journal Locus Magazine celebrates its latest publication with a release party is this Saturday (03.01.08) at Metro Gallery. The event is going to feature live music, works by local artists and free copies of Locus Magazine’s Issue #4.
