  • We’ll spend an afternoon at Baltimore County’s Cromwell Valley Park, where three organic food growers are pioneering an innovative farming model: Community Supported Agriculture
  • We’ll visit the archival catacombs of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and meet three guys who know more than anyone ought to know about old movies — they’re the keepers of the library’s vast sixteen-millimeter film collection
  • We’ll drop in at Baltimore’s Ikaros Restaurant to meet Greek immigrant and restaurateur Xenos Kohilas
  • And we’ll hear from a couple of venerable Eastern Shore duck decoy carvers, who share their memories of two unforgettable hometown heroes of yesteryear, brothers Steve and Lem Ward
It's not quite green yet, but planting is already underway at the Cromwell Valley CSA organic farm.

Tonight at nine o’clock, the 14 Karat Cabaret opens its doors to host yet another peculiar night of experimental music and performance poetry…Shattered Wig Night. The event is a celebration of the local literary periodical, Shattered Wig, and there’s quite a line-up of performers on the bill: A musical duo by the name of “Human Bell” is slated to perform — they’re comprised of Dave Human of the band Arboretum and Nate Bell, a former member of Baltimore’s rock visionaries, Lungfish. Also on the bill, the genre-bending music group Geodesic Gnome, and poets John Colburn and Blaster Al Ackerman. The 14 Karat Cabaret is located at 218 West Saratoga Street, and more information is on the web at www.normals.com.

Philadelphia’s Mum Puppet Theatre is in town here at Baltimore’s Theatre Project: From now through April 3rd, this unconventional troupe is performing a show called Séance. It’s a wordless play that incorporates masks, life-sized puppets, aerial gymnastics, an original score, and yes, a real on-stage séance. That one’s probably not such a kid-friendly puppet show, but the Mum Puppet Theatre is also doing a one-show-only family-friendly performance of The Velveteen Rabbit. That’s happening tomorrow at 2 p.m. Theatre Project is located at 45 West Preston Street, and they’re also on the web at www.theatreproject.org.

If you’ve got kids, and you’re looking to get them out of the house for some egg hunting this weekend, The College of Notre Dame of Maryland is hosting Easter crafts and egg hunts starting at 9:30 tomorrow morning. That’s happening at 4701 North Charles Street.

And The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is hosting an egg hunt as well: The “Mary Sue Egg Hunt” starts tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. If you can drag the kids away from all the games and candy, they’ll have an opportunity to get a sneak peek at some of the zoo’s springtime baby animals. More information is at 410 366-LION, or on the web at www.marylandzoo.com.
